The Bishop McCort football team suffered their first defeat of the season Friday night to the Richland Rams 30-27 at Point Stadium. The Crushers held a 7-6 lead at the half, however the second half saw end to end action and four lead changes in the fourth quarter. McCort built a 14-6 lead with 8:34 left in the 3rd quarter as senior quarterback Jordan DeFrances connected with senior wide receiver Matt Varga on a 6-yard touchdown reception, DeFrances' second of the game. The Rams tied the game at fourteen following a Marco Pecora 6-yard touchdown run. The Crushers next drive consisted of two plays as senior tight end Mike Cruz found junior wide receiver Jack Schrey for a 42-yard pass completion. DeFrances then connected with junior
Eric Lowry for a 14-yard touchdown reception giving McCort a 21-14 lead. Richland took the lead back 22-21 with 9:11 left in the 4th quarter as Pecora scrambled for a 10-yard touchdown run and then followed with a two-point conversion pass to Tim Ripple. Sixteen seconds later, DeFrances completed a 61-yard touchdown pass, his 4th of the game, to Varga to give McCort a 27-22 lead. Richland responded as Pecora scrambled for a 59-yard run and then found Dan Fenton for a 3-yard touchdown pass to Richland a 30-27 win.
