Bishop McCort and Bedford played a tight contest throughout much of the first half, but the Bison eventually pulled away for a 42-0. Despite the edge in time of possession, the Crushers could not find the end zone at all on Friday night. McCort slipped to 1-5 on the season, while Bedford improved to 6-0.
The opening drive for McCort looked to be promising as the Crushers marched 69 yards on 14 plays, but a fumble through the back of the end zone gave the ball to Bedford on the 20 yard line. McCort stood tall against the vaunted Bedford offense and forced a punt, which was ultimately blocked by sophomore linebacker
Ridge Phillips. The Crushers could not use the good field position and handed the ball back to the Bison on the second play of the second quarter.
The teams proceeded to trade possessions, as the McCort defense held strong throughout much of the first half. With 4:40 remaining in the first half, Bedford's offense finally came to life. After a McCort punt, Austin Montgomery called his own number on the first play of the drive to set the score 7-0 after the 42 yard touchdown scamper. On the ensuing Bishop McCort drive, Bedford's August Cook returned a fumble for a score to put the Bison 14-0. Bedford added two more scores in the final two minutes in the second quarter to take a commanding 28-0 lead heading into halftime.
Bedford opened the third period with a methodical drive down field, but it was halted on an interception by McCort's
Anthony Walters. Even with the momentum, the Crushers' offense could not muster a sustained drive. Bedford's Conner Lazorka rushed the ball 75 yards on their next possession to increase their lead 35-0. The Bison added one more score in the fourth to set the final at 42-0.
