Game Recap: Football |

Bishop McCort 28, Cambria Heights 7

Bishop McCort picked up their first win of the 2015 season by defeating Cambria Heights 28-7 at the Point Stadium.  The Crushers used a number of big plays on offense to overwhelm the visiting Highlanders. Levi Cook paced the McCort offensive attack with 195 passing yards on 6 of 7 attempts with three touchdowns. Ridge Phillips had 15 tackles to lead the McCort defense.

The game started with a lengthy Cambria Heights drive that eventually stalled with a missed field goal attempt. The McCort offense took over and on their third play from scrimmage, quarterback Levi Cook found senior receiver Jozef Leech across the middle and he took off for a 75 yard touchdown.  Shane Steele added the extra point to give McCort a 7-0 lead.

Cambria Heights again found a rhythm on offense and took the ball deep into Bishop McCort territory, but the Crushers' defense made a goal line stand and took the ball over at the one yard line. McCort then drove the ball 99 yards on 11 plays with the possession resulting in a touchdown pass from Cook to junior Anthony Formica to give the Crushers a 14-0 lead heading into halftime.

McCort's offense did not miss a beat to start the second half, as the Crushers marched 60 yards on 9 plays, this time Cook found Michael Stem from 26 yards out to put the Crushers up 21-0.  The teams traded possessions before McCort again found the end zone, as Carnell Andrews sprinted in from 27 yards away and Shane Steele booted his fourth extra point attempt of the night to put McCort up 28-0. The Highlanders avoided the shutout as Nick Brawley recovered a McCort fumble and scampered into the end zone to set the final score at 28-7.

Bishop McCort will travel across town to take on Johnstown Friday night.
