Chris Pfeil, a 1994 graduate of Bishop McCort High School, begins his tenth season as the Head Baseball Coach at his alma mater. In his first nine seasons, Coach Pfeil has led the Crushers to an 169-54 record, including the school’s first ever State Championship in 2012.  The Crushers advanced to the State Final in 2016 and 2017, the State Semifinals in 2014 and 2019 and the State Quarterfinals in 2011 and 2013.  Chris led the Crushers to the District VI Championship Game in six of nine seasons, winning championships in four.  Under Pfeil, the Crushers has had over 20 players continue their careers at the collegiate level and has had 10 players receive All-State recognition.Â
Pfeil spent 16 seasons managing in the Johnstown AAABA League-leading the Johnstown Grays and Martella's Pharmacy Franchises. His career record in the AAABA League was 448-239. Â He has led nine teams to the National AAABA Tournament, more than any Johnstown manager in the 72-year history of the league. Â Four of his teams have advanced to the National Final Four.
Chris is a graduate of Clarion University, where he was a four-year starter for the Golden Eagles baseball team. Pfeil hit .443 in his senior season at Clarion, which ranked in the top 30 in the nation. Chris stayed at Clarion as an assistant coach to Rich Herman before moving back to Johnstown.
Chris was a three-year letter winner for the Bishop McCort baseball team and still holds the school record with a .508 batting average in the 1994 season.
Chris is employed by Bishop McCort High School as the Academic Enrichment Coordinator and Dean of Discipline. He also served as the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for 11 seasons and helped lead the Crushers to four District VI titles. He was named head boys basketball coach in July 2019.
Chris and his wife, Sara, reside in Johnstown with their two sons, Mason and Grady, and their daughter Hannah.
