The Last Time:The Bedford Bison used an impressive first quarter to jump out to an early lead and never let up as they defeated Bishop McCort 48-21 at Point Stadium on Saturday, October 4, 2014.
The Crushers received the opening kickoff, but fumbled on the second play from scrimmage to give Bedford the ball. The Bison wasted no time taking the lead as Bedford quarterback Austin Montgomery found Connor Lazorka for a 44-yard touchdown pass on Bedford's first offensive play.
After forcing a Crusher punt, the Bison found the endzone again on an 11-yard Zach Shaffer run to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Bishop McCort closed the gap when sophomore quarterback
Levi Cook scored from two yards out making 14-7. But Bedford immediately answered marching the ball 61 yards in just five plays and increasing the lead to 21-7 on an August Cook touch- down run.
The Bison used another Crusher turnover to add to the lead just before halftime. Montgomery intercepted
Levi Cook's pass deep in Bedford territory. Montgomery then found August Cook for a 23-yard scoring strike to set the halftime score at 27-7.
Bedford received the kickoff to start the second half and moved the ball 50 yards in just five plays as Lucas Waugerman added a 14-yard touchdown run to make it 35-7.
After another Crusher punt, August Cook added his third touchdown of the night. Bedford forced one more Crusher punt on the following possession, and then used a Dylan Downs touchdown run at the end of the third quarter to give the Bison a 48-7 lead.
Bishop McCort got back on the scoreboard midway through the fourth quarter when freshman
Anthony Walters scored from three yards out. Junior
Josh Way added the final points of the night for the Crushers with a 4-yard touchdown run to set the final score at 48-21.
For the game, Bishop McCort rushed for 225 yards. Walters led the attack with 80 yards on 13 carries.
Levi Cook added 67 yards on 15 carries.

Week 5 Recap:Bishop McCort came up just short against Richland on homecoming night 2015. The Crushers and Rams traded big play after big play in a wild fourth quarter, but Richland ultimately prevailed by a score of 30-27. Bishop McCort dropped to 1-4 on the season, while Richland improved to 2-3.Â
Bishop McCort and Richland traded possessions with a turnover and penalty plagued first quarter before the Rams took the lead at the 3:46 mark on a Dan Verhovsek four yard touchdown run. Richland led 6-0 after one, but started the second frame in the midst of a big drive. Richland eventually added three on a Logan Bowser field goal to take a 9-0 lead.Â
The Crushers finally found a groove on their fifth possession of the game as
Anthony Walters found pay dirt on a 1 yard touchdown to bring McCort within two at 9-7. Richland wasted little time on the following drive, with Jonny Kutchman scoring from three yards out to raise Richland's lead to 16-7.Â
Carnell Andrews gave the McCort offense a short field on a 35 yard return to Richland territory on the ensuing kick attempt.
Levi Cook hit
Michael Stem in stride for a 45 yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 16-13 at the half.Â
Richland opened the second half with a 19 play 9:08 drive, but could not muster a point. The McCort offense took over on downs and eventually
Levi Cook dashed through the Richland defense from 30 yards out to give Bishop McCort their first lead of the game at 20-16. Â The lead was short-lived though, as Jonny Kutchman returned
Shane Steele's kick 83 yards to give the edge right back to the visiting Rams 23-20. After a McCort turnover on downs, Kutchman found the end zone for the third time of the night to put Richland up 30-27.
Facing a two score deficit, the Crushers mounted a quick score. Â
Levi Cook tossed a screen to
Carnell Andrews, who took the pass one-handed and turned it into a 64 yard touchdown to give McCort new life and bring the score to 30-27. Â The Crushers could not come up with a big stop on a crucial third down late in the game, and the Rams held on for the victory.Â
