Bishop McCort dropped their 2015 opener by a score of 26-14 on the road against the Forest Hills Rangers. The Crushers started the game with an impressive time consuming drive that spanned 11 plays and 62 yards and resulted in a 26 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback
Levi Cook to senior wide receiver
Michael Stem.
Shane Steele added the extra point to give the Crushers an early 7-0 lead.
Forest Hills responded in the second quarter with a lengthy 13 play drive capped off by a one yard touchdown run by freshman quarterback Adam Cecere. The Rangers added a two point conversion to give them an 8-7 lead. That score remained the same into halftime.
Forest Hills controlled the time of possession throughout much of the third quarter, with their first drive chewing up 6:31 off the game clock ending in an Andrew Pinkas 25 yard touchdown run. McCort stuffed the Forest Hills two point conversion attempt to set the Forest lead at 14-7. After a McCort turnover, the Rangers put together a similar drive resulting in another Andrew Pinkas touchdown scamper, this time a four yard run to put Forest Hills up 20-7
With the Crushers staring down a two score deficit in the fourth quarter, the Crushers' offense mounted an impressive 65 yard drive in just five plays highlighted by a big 25 yard pass connection from Cook to fellow junior
Andre Nash.
Levi Cook broke through into the open field later in the possession and scored from 18 yards out to cut into the Forest Hills lead 20-14. Bishop McCort could not get any closer, though, as Forest Hills recovered the ensuing onsides kick attempt and polished off the game with an Ian Wieczorek 1 yard touchdown run in the waning seconds.

Levi Cook's solid performace. Cook finished the day with 87 yards passing by completing 5-9 of his passing attempts with one going for a score. He also led the Crushers in the rushing department with 63 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. The McCort defense received standout performances from sophomore
Anthony Walters (13 total tackles), and 11 tackles each from
Jozef Leech and
Andre Nash.
Bishop McCort will open the home portion of their schedule Friday night as they host the Highlanders from Cambria Heights (0-1).
