Bishop McCort 68, Bishop Carroll 0

Bishop McCort cruised to an easy 68-0 victory in the season opener. McCort used a balanced attack that saw touchdowns scored on offense, defense, and special teams with six different Crushers finding the end zone. 

After a Bishop Carroll punt to start the game, McCort opened with a two play 18 yard scoring drive that was capped off by an Anthony Walters three yard touchdown. The Crushers' defense forced another punt from Bishop Carroll, and subsequently scored on the first play of the drive with a Carnell Andrews 36 yard touchdown run. Shane Steele's extra point gave McCort a 14-0 just minutes into the game. 

2677Once again, the McCort defense held strong and forced another punt.  In fact, the McCort defense throughout the game only allowed one first down, held Bishop Carroll to -37 yards, and forced 4 turnovers. Carnell Andrews scored his second touchdown of the day, this one from six yards out, to increase the lead to 20-0 which held through the first quarter. 

Freshman running back, William Miller, opened the second quarter with a three yard touchdown run. On the following Bishop Carroll drive, Zach Goins blocked a punt and Carnell Andrews scooped up the loose ball and scampered into the end zone from 25 yards out to increase the lead to 34-0. 

The Crushers' offense continued to roll. The next two offensive drives saw touchdown runs from Kristian Fleming (67 yards) and Imil Britt (22 yards) to extend the lead to 48-0. After another failed Bishop Carroll drive, Carnell Andrews returned their punt 59 yards for his fourth touchdown of the night. The Crushers capped off the scoring in the first half on a 51 yard interception return by Imil Britt, his second takeaway of the night. The halftime score read 61-0. 

The running clock was in effect in the second half. Bishop McCort tacked on one more score as Chris Miller recovered a fumble in the end zone to set the final at 68-0. The Crushers rolled up 198 yards on the ground collectively, with 13 different players carrying the ball. The dominant defensive performance was led by Ridge Phillips and Devin Nau, who both finished with seven tackles.
