Bishop McCort used a dominant performance on both sides of the ball en route to a 48-6 victory over Richland. Four different Crushers carried the ball for touchdowns in the winning effort. McCort improved to 5-1 on the season with the win.
The scoring started early for the visiting team, as McCort executed a six play 61 yard drive to strike first on an
Anthony Walters' 34 yard touchdown run.
Levi Cook tacked on a two-point conversion to make it 8-0. Richland was forced to punt on their first possession, and the Crushers took advantage.
Chris Miller booted a 46 yard field goal to make it 11-0, which held through the first quarter.
Richland opened the second quarter in the midst of a lengthy drive. On fourth down, Richland quarterback Caleb Burke found Joey Kovachick for a 31 yard score. The two point conversion failed, but the Rams cut into the lead at 11-6. The teams traded possessions after that, before McCort took over possession at their on 29 yard line. The Crushers then mounted a 15 play drive that was capped off with a
Levi Cook 1 yard touchdown run. That score increased the lead to 18-6 at half.
The second half opened with Richland taking the ball first, but their drive went backwards.
Zach Goins fell on Caleb Burke in the end zone for a safety and the Crushers' lead increased to 20-6. The flood gates opened from there. The next McCort drive ended with
Anthony Walters' second touchdown run on the game, this time from six yards out. Another quick drive by Richland gave the Crushers good field position, and they took advantage on a
Carnell Andrews 14 yard touchdown run. The third quarter ended on an electric 58 yard touchdown by
Imil Britt, and the score read 42-6 through three quarters.
Imil Britt added a second touchdown run in the fourth quarter from 10 yards out to set the final at 48-6.
Bishop McCort finished the day with 418 yards of total offense, including 364 on the ground.
Anthony Walters led the attack with 143 yards and two touchdowns. Walters, along with
Ridge Phillips, led the defensive effort with 11 tackles apiece.
